We took the kids ice skating last Saturday. I knew after my attempt to take them roller skating, that I had better not attempt to do this alone. Aaron hasn't ever been, so he was wanting to go with them for their first skate. It worked out really well. Well, except that we basically drug the children around the rink. And less than 1/2 way around they began to beg to go home. Thankfully I didn't have to hold up Aaron, he did really well, and I think even wants to go back. Here we are just getting our skates on, and the kids standing for the first time:
There was a very nice employee that came over to help Adalie as I was trying to teach her how to skate. Despite her advice, Addie didn't take to it like I hoped she would. And Admiral really just wanted me to hold him in front of me, and skate fast, so that he felt like he was skating fast. The problem with having them in front of you, is it is KILLER on the lower back. Here is Adalie existing the ice:
Despite her wanting to go home the whole time, she didn't want to leave the ice when we had to, and we got this lovely face. We would have gotten many more pictures, but it turns out that it isn't possible to hold onto a toddler, the wall, and a camera that the same time. We didn't think it was worth breaking the camera over. Admiral was with Dad, and they had already gotten off the ice at this point. We all had to get off because of the Zambonie (sp?) - which was the highlight of the kids day. I think they could have stayed there all day watching that! Check out their faces:
Pure joy! I wonder if they will let us in free to watch it next time. That way we can save our $20. Or maybe we will only skate on Thursdays when it is $2 to get in a $2 for skates. If we go back, I will let you know if it was a better experiece. Aaron is interested in a hockey league - now THOSE would be some pictures to post!
