It's what we pay them for..(guys, you can skip this one if you want)

Since I am officially over 30 (yes, I know, buy a few years now) I thought it was about time to schedule a physical. I am not big on doctor visits, and I never went back to the OB after my c-section with Admiral for post op or check up or anything, so it seemed about time....since that was almost 3 years ago. I scheduled a full physical, lab and mammo. Ahhh, my first mammo. Since there is a history of breast cancer, I thought it would be nice to have a base to look back on in the future. You know "yep, she had a boob back then, all things are good still".

Well, I went for the exam, bearing in mind all of the horror stories that have been circulated over the years...Erma Bombeck comes to mind. But it wasn't that bad. In fact it didn't even hurt. I was concerned that once flattened like a pancake I wouldn't even fit in the machine, but crisis averted. When the tech was in the middle of the exam, she used all her years of wisdom to prep me that the machine is sensitive and would pick up everything, and the doctor would have to call me back to read the scans, and possibly take another look. Ok, I thought, no biggie. Turns out she was serious. I got the letter today, that they saw something on the scan, and "even though it is usually benign (not cancer) I need to schedule another appointment at my earliest convenience".

Turns out that if you pay them to look you over and see what they can find....they will. I will keep you posted. Like my mother said "at least they didn't say...were you missing your remote?, because...."

And on the bright side (pointed out by 2 friends this evening) 'maybe I can get a reduction out of it' and hey, I am ALL FOR THAT!!! Since you can donate breast milk to milk banks and hair to locks of love - do you think there is a cup size donation bank?

  1. Hey - let me know if you *can* get a reduction out of it! I'll sign right up!! Oh, and I'm looking at the big "M" next year. Thanks for the reassurance. All the "flat as a pancake" (and that would take a loooot of squeezing) stories have me a little freaked out, too!
